Our Story
How Rattana came to be
Rattana opened quietly on Phaya Thai Road in 2011, started by Nattawut Srisuwan after more than a decade working alongside senior watchmakers in Bangkok's gem and jewellery district. The idea was straightforward: a small, focused workshop where fine ladies' watches and treasured family pieces could be serviced with genuine care rather than processed as quickly as possible.
The name Rattana — meaning jewel or precious stone in Thai — reflects what the workshop believes about the pieces it receives. Each watch carries value that goes beyond its mechanics. Some are worn for milestones. Others are kept in a drawer and brought out on special occasions. A number arrive having belonged to someone no longer living. All of them deserve to be treated accordingly.
Over the years, word spread among Bangkok residents and expats looking for patient, honest work on their more personal pieces. The client base grew without advertising, largely through recommendation. That suited us well. A workshop built on trust does not need to shout.
Today Rattana remains deliberately small. We take on work we can do properly, communicate at every stage, and keep a written record for every piece that passes through our hands. If you leave a watch with us, you will know what we found, what we did, and why.

Nattawut Srisuwan
Founder & Lead Watchmaker
Fourteen years working with Swiss and Japanese movements. Trained initially in the jewellery district of Silom before establishing Rattana. Specialises in ladies' dress watches and delicate calibres.
Pornthip Charoenwong
Case & Setting Specialist
Experienced in gem-set case inspection and bracelet care. Works carefully around stone settings and liaises with clients on cosmetic decisions before any cleaning or polishing begins.
Kriangkrai Thongsuk
Restoration & Records
Handles heirloom restoration assessments and maintains the workshop's written service records. Ensures each client receives a clear account of all work carried out before they collect their piece.
How We Work
Standards we hold ourselves to
These are not external requirements — they are practices we adopted because they produce better outcomes for the people who trust us with their watches.
Pre-Service Assessment
Every piece is assessed under magnification before any work begins. Findings are documented and shared with the client, with costs confirmed before proceeding.
Approved Lubricants Only
We use lubricants specified for each calibre type. Using the wrong grade can damage a movement; we follow manufacturer recommendations carefully.
Water Resistance Checks
Where a watch has a water resistance rating, seals are inspected and replaced where needed. Pressure testing is available on request at the end of service.
Secure Storage
All pieces held for service are kept in a locked cabinet out of direct light. We photograph each piece on arrival as a condition record for your protection and ours.
Written Records
A printed service record accompanies every piece on collection, listing what was found, what was done, the lubricants used, and the next recommended service interval.
Ongoing Learning
The watchmaking field continues to evolve. Our team reads technical literature regularly and participates in courses when relevant new techniques or tools become available in Thailand.
About Our Expertise
Watch repair and restoration in Bangkok since 2011
Rattana has been providing watch servicing in Ratchathewi, Bangkok for over a decade. Our focus has remained consistent: ladies' dress watches, gem-set cases, and heirloom pieces that require particular attention and a steady hand. Bangkok has no shortage of watch shops, but fewer places where the work is done in-house by someone you can speak to directly.
Ladies' watches present a specific set of challenges. Movements are often smaller, and components require finer tools and more deliberate handling than those found in gents' sports watches. The same is true of gem-set cases, where cleaning must be careful enough not to disturb stone settings, and polishing decisions must be discussed before they are made — not after. These are the areas where Rattana has built its experience.
Heirloom restoration sits at the centre of what we do. A family watch that has not been serviced in twenty or thirty years will often need more than a cleaning — mainsprings wear, oils congeal, seals fail. The work takes time to assess honestly. Some pieces arrive where the cost of restoration would be disproportionate; we say so when that is the case, and a client leaves with their watch and a clear explanation rather than an unnecessary bill.
Our workshop is a short walk from BTS Phaya Thai station, and we welcome visits by appointment or during opening hours. If you have a watch that needs attention and are uncertain what it requires, a conversation costs nothing.
