Why Choose Rattana
What a considered workshop does differently
Choosing where to leave a treasured watch is not a small decision. Here is how we approach the work that others may not.
At a Glance
Six things that matter here
Over a decade in watchmaking
Practical experience with ladies' calibres, gem-set cases, and vintage movements since 2011.
Written record with every service
A printed document listing findings, work done, and lubricants used — for your records and for the next keeper of the piece.
Informed consent at each step
Nothing proceeds without your explicit agreement — initial assessment, additional findings, cosmetic options, all of it.
Fixed pricing, confirmed upfront
Service prices are stated clearly. If something additional is found, the extra cost is discussed before it is carried out.
Focus on fine and personal pieces
We work primarily with ladies' watches, gem-set cases, and family heirlooms — the kinds of pieces where care matters most.
Secure, documented storage
Each piece is photographed on arrival and stored securely. You know exactly where your watch is and who has responsibility for it.

Practical expertise with the movements that matter
Ladies' watch movements are not simply smaller versions of gents' calibres. They often require finer tools, different lubricant grades, and more deliberate handling at every stage. Nattawut Srisuwan has worked with these calibres for over fourteen years — first in Silom, then from the Rattana workshop on Phaya Thai Road.
Gem-set cases bring additional considerations. Cleaning methods that are appropriate for plain cases may dislodge poorly set stones. We inspect each stone setting before any cleaning and work around them cautiously. This is knowledge built through experience, not theory.
Areas of specialist knowledge
Ladies' dress movements, small calibre servicing
Gem-set case inspection and gentle cleaning
Vintage movement assessment and service planning
Heirloom restoration with preservation of character
Water resistance seal inspection and replacement
What we use in the workshop
High-magnification loupes and stereo microscope work
Ultrasonic cleaner for safe, controlled case cleaning
Watchmaker's timing machine for regulation checks
Calibre-specific lubricants from established suppliers
Considered tools for considered work
Good watchmaking tools are not an indulgence — they are a precondition for doing the work properly. We have invested steadily in equipment that allows accurate assessment and careful handling, particularly for small movements where the margin for error is small. Every piece is examined under magnification before any service begins.
A service built on communication
We do not disappear with your watch and return it changed without explanation. The service begins with a conversation — in person, by phone, or by message — where we ask questions and you ask yours. During the work, if we find anything additional, we stop and contact you.
On collection, we walk through what was done and hand you a printed service record. If you have questions three months later, you can call us. That relationship does not end at the till.
How the service feels
You are kept informed throughout. The estimate is agreed before work begins. Cosmetic decisions — polishing, refinishing — are yours to make, not ours. Timelines are communicated clearly and updated if something changes.
A watch with personal significance deserves to be handled by someone who understands that significance. We try to be that workshop.
Service pricing
Prices confirmed before work begins. Additional findings discussed separately.
Clear pricing, no additions without discussion
Each service has a published price that covers the standard scope of that work. If assessment reveals something outside that scope — a worn mainspring, a corroded contact, a stone that has shifted — we call you with the cost before continuing. The decision is always yours.
We also tell you honestly when the cost of restoration would exceed what is sensible for a given piece. That is part of the service too.
A watch that runs well, for longer
The purpose of a service is to extend the life and reliability of a watch. We use the correct lubricants for each calibre, replace worn parts where needed, and regulate the movement before return. A properly serviced watch should run dependably for years after leaving us.
The service record we provide includes the recommended interval for the next service — typically five to eight years depending on the calibre and how the watch is worn. This helps you plan ahead rather than waiting for something to go wrong.
What a completed service achieves
Movement running within acceptable rate tolerance
Fresh lubricants throughout, correctly graded
Worn components identified and replaced or noted
Case and bracelet cleaned and returned in good order
Written record ready for your files or future keeper

What Sets Us Apart
Things you will not find everywhere
The Care Record Panel
For heirloom pieces, we maintain a cumulative record of every service carried out. If your watch comes to us again in fifteen years, or is brought by someone you have passed it to, we will have a clear history of what was done and when. This is rare in independent workshops and meaningful for a watch meant to last generations.
Stone Setting Inspection
Before any cleaning of a gem-set case begins, we check every visible setting under magnification. Loose or cracked settings are flagged before cleaning starts — not discovered afterwards when a stone has been displaced. This step is not charged separately; it is part of how we approach gem-set work.
We Decline Work When Appropriate
If an assessment shows that restoration costs would be disproportionate to a piece's condition or value, we say so. A client leaving without spending money is not a failure — it is part of giving sound advice. We would rather that than complete work that does not serve the client's interest.
Walk-In Consultations Welcome
You do not need to have decided what service you want before visiting. Bring the watch, tell us about it, and we will look at it with you. Initial consultations are without charge or obligation. We are on Phaya Thai Road, easy to reach on the BTS from most of central Bangkok.
